About Us

Welcome to our club. We have over 400 members and cater for all levels of play from social to interclub.

We have 9 quick draining Omniturf artificial grass courts which are densely woven to eliminate the surplus sand you see on some other surfaces.

We run tournaments throughout spring and summer and Club Sessions run for most of the whole 12 months.

Excellent advance court booking facilities are available and swipe cards are available to access clubhouse facilities at any time.

These are just some of our points of difference from other clubs.

To ensure things run smoothly the club pays for a part-time Club Manager. We are fortunate to have experienced people in place as well as very active Junior, Midweek and Senior Committees. Programs for each year provide plenty of interest and variety. An outline of our main activities is in the How to Join section.

We thank businesses for their ongoing support. These include Aspec Construction and You Travel. Their financial support is valued by us so please support them when you can.

Special thanks also to all those club members who give their time to help run the club.

Mairangi Bay Tennis Club welcome visitors to the Club who are accompanied by a Club member. Payment of a small court hire fee of $10 per adult, $5 per child must be deposited in the club post box before play (in the wall by the downstairs door).

Other visitors are welcome if the Club Manager is on duty and can open the court gates for the visitor. The courts are protected by a computer security system which requires a special swipe card for access to the courts.

Court Bookings

Courts may be booked online by using our internet Booking System.
Select "Bookings" from the Home Page on this Website and register as a User. Once you have been confirmed as a financial member, you may book courts.

Bookings are limited to a maximum of one and a half hours. Please vacate the court promptly if others are waiting. Current rules are by the computer and aim to give all financial members fair access.

Competition and Organised Play

Senior interclub: We participate in the North Shore Competition in most grades from Chelsea Cup to 5th Grade and starts September.

Midweek Interclub: Played on Monday or Tuesday mornings, starts October and includes teams in grades Premier through to C2.

Junior Interclub: Organised by the Junior Convenor

Teams start at 10yr boys and 10yr girls.

Social Matches: Arranged on a home and/or away basis.

In-House Special Activity Tournaments: These are all fun based, yet still aim to preserve a strong element of competition. Ability is NOT a criteria for entry.

Club Championships: We have 2 grades so more people can participate.

Midweek: Wednesday & Friday 9.30am to noon

Club members are asked to assist with the cleanliness of the club by washing and drying cups, plates, cutlery etc. after use, emptying ash trays, replacing furniture and leaving the premises in a clean and tidy manner.

Club Security

Besides swipe card access to the courts, members can use the same swipe card to enter the lower pavilion for access to toilet and notice boards. Every member is responsible for the security of all club facilities. Please assist by ensuring all gates, doors and windows are shut and fully secured after use.

Financial Membership

It is the responsibility of individual members to be financial before using the facilities.

Only Club authorised coaches have access to the use of the Club courts or facilities.

To book coaching, contact our club's Head Coach John Rogers on 021 295 1822 or email jrr.tennis@gmail.com.

Flood Lights

Court lighting is free so you can enjoy playing in balmy summer evenings. We encourage players to use spare courts with lights on already rather than turn on an extra set. This saves energy and saves the planet! Each time a bulb turns on it shortens its life and they cost around $400 each to replace. To respect the rights of nearby residents the lights must be turned off by 10.30pm. The switches currently operate on a manual system and the relevant switches are clearly marked in the downstairs clubroon close to the Junior noticeboard..

Court Rules

In keeping with our image as a top Shore club, appropriate tennis apparel and non-marking shoes must be worn at all times. Men can not wear singlets. Smoking and the consumption of alcohol on the courts is expressly prohibited. Chewing gum and glass should not be taken on to the courts. Any rescheduled interclub matches must first be cleared with the Club Manager for court allocation.
